ECO ZOMBIES EIGHT | EMILY JONES, Avalanche Canada
Emily lives in Smithers, working for Avalanche Canada as a Field Technician. She has completed 14 winter seasons working in the avalanche industry, as a forecaster and avalanche technician for ski areas in Aotearoa New Zealand, the USA, Canada and Japan. Emily is passionate about mentoring and stewardship for the alpine environment. Importantly, she acts as a mentor for young women wanting to show them that regardless of barriers they can set goals and achieve highly with physical pursuits and professional aspirations. Her approach to tasks is often ‘learn by doing’ and she finds showing others, practically or through sharing experiences through story or film, is the best way for them to learn also. Emily loves winter so much she’s only had 3 summers in the last 10 years!
