Over the past few years on BC’s central and north coasts, a humpback whale known as Moon to researches and observers, has cruised these water for food before making the 4,800 km journey to the breeding grounds of Hawaii. Sadly, it would seem, Moon has made this incredible trek for the last time.

Today to tell us more about Moon the Humpback Whale’s situation is Jackie Hildering, an educator and researcher with the Marine Education and Research Society.

Prince Rupert has been dealing with an aging infrastructure issue for years and this week drop in temperatures only agitated the situation even further. Over the weekend 100-year-old water mains have cracked and broken in Prince Rupert and the city is in a state of local emergency.
