Every now and again, it's good to point out local BC record labels that are making waves around the world and distributing high quality music to our ears at CICK.
Silent Season "is a music label influenced by the natural surroundings in British Columbia," that features ambient musicians from around the world making sound that could fit well as a soundtrack to the supernatural geography of BC. Featured musicians such as ASC, Mind Over Midi and Purl make electronic ambient music that splashes, drips, creaks, gusts and crackles, putting a stethescope to sounds any British Columian will recognize. You can almost smell the salty sea breeze, a wet pine tree or towering cedar as you lsiten.
The sounds of Silent Season "grew out of the connection between deep ethereal music and the rain forests of Vancouver Island" and is well worth an in depth examination for any lover of ambient music. The newest release from Silent Season, entitled "The Wandering II Compilation" features a taste of many of it's artists and is highly worthy for the winter months.
