On Friday, September 29th in Smithers, BC on Wet'suwet'en territory a new Totem Pole is being raised at Walnut Park Elementary School. This pole will bring awareness to the area of land which was once a vibrant Wet'suwet'en community called 'Indiantown'. Many Wet'suwet'en families lived and thrived in the area, but were pushed out by the settlers of Smithers along with police and enforcement agencies of BC.

The pole was desgined by Dinï ze' T'sek'ot (Ron Austin) and carved by Gitxsan artist Dan Yunkws along with students that Dan was working with in K'San on Gitxsan territory.

The interviews in this podcast are Birdy Markert, Principal and Indigenous Educator for SD54 and Hereditary Chief and Master Carver T'sek'ot (Ron Austin).
