Fish traps in the Skeena region have been making a comeback this season as more communities look to selective harvesting methods new and old to be more sustainable while fishing for salmon. Katherine Pollack is a senior biologist for the Lax Kw’alaams Fisheries Department and is overseeing a new floating fish trap in the Skeena River, currently collecting research data for future development.
