July marks the halfway point of summer in the North, and although that might be a
sad realisation, it also marks Toadfest the annual migration of Western Toads at
Ross Lake Provincial Park.
Thousands of tadpoles have now descended on the beaches of Ross Lake and
Are slowly transforming into toads, and this weekend the community gathered
to celebrate those toads with the inaugural Toadfest, to ensure these tiny but
important creatures get the help they need to thrive.
I spoke with with Rachel Cameron from BCParks and Norma Kirby from the
Northern Amphibious Naturalist Society about why Western Toads are just… great.
