Program:

As we entre 2023 we continue with a look back at our work this past year. Today we’ll revisit the support that grew across Northwest BC, especially in Smithers with fundraising and aid for Ukraine after Russia invaded in late February. We’ll take a look at two major events that happened in the Northwest with Hobiyee in Nisga’a territory and the All Native Basketball Tournament in Prince Rupert. Also, we’ll review our trip to Morice Lake in late May to check out the Wet’suwet’en fish camp and the critical work their doing to rebuild sockeye populations. We’ll look back at our childcare crisis story in Smithers, as parents struggle to provide childcare for their kids so parents can head back to work, their calling on the province and federal government to take action And finally, municipal councils look a lot different in BC than they did earlier in the year, we’ll feature a few interviews with former candidates now Smithers councillors during the 2022 BC Municipal elections in October.
