The Mystery of the Money Jar is a play written and performed by students of Smithers.


The play is a youth engagement project made possible by the BC Touring Council, British Columbia Arts Council, CICK 93.9 Smithers Community radio and the BUlkley Valley Concert Association.


It was collaboratively written by local youth Soleil Brooks, Tiya Sahay, Travis Pete and Caleb Owens under the guidance of Shawn McDonald professional script writer and actor.


The play was performed by: 

Tiya Sahay as Asha 

Oliver Franklin as Rome 

Ivy Wright as Liana and ‘student’ 

Soleil Brooks as Ashley and Ella 

Sophia Mattson as Alex and Kid in the Hall 

Jayden Barkman as Braden 

Alan Doll as Dad 

Shannon Finnegan as Teacher One, Lady at Out of Hand, and the loud speaker 

Heather Lee as Teacher Two
