Auld Lang Syne List - This week’s show is inspired by a traditional new years anthem – there is really only one, and it has a Canadian connection. It was the Guy Lombardo Orchestra that first played this song right after midnight during a live New Year’s Eve radio broadcast. From then on the song became synonymous with New Years Eve.
The phrase ‘auld lang syne’ roughly translates as ‘for old long since’. I’ve used the song title to create a personal list of historical people, once notable, that popular culture has forgotten over time. I call it my Auld Lang Syne list.
Today on Art beat three people from my ever growing Auld Lang Syne list. All adventurers and all aviators (among other extraordinary things!) And all born in October! Hmm I wonder if that is a coincidence. Listen to this week's episode to be amazed by the lives of Sir Hubert Wilkins, Beryl Markham and Canadian born Aloha Wanderwell
