a mix of acoustic guitar, earthy instrumentation and an ethereal tendril that tethered his instrumental nuance with the melodic qualities of his lyrics. Self-titled, major-label debut was 2004. While there are no sweeping grandiose ballads or lush commercial powerpop songs to be found here, there’s a greater sense of completion than Mars has had with his previous releases (pop matters)
