The first release on Dan Mangan's new record label, Astral Swans is Matthew Swann, a psychedelic folk/garage rock guy from Calgary who does great stuff on this record. Simple, lo-fi, experimental, lush. The perfect blend of rough-around-the-edges and well-crafted, his sound is gritty and hauntingly beautiful. Lyrics are thoughtful, provoking, personal.
