HAPPY CHRISTMAS from ART BEAT! Tomorrow is Friday and that means it is ART BEAT time! PLUS it is Christmas Day. I just couldn't miss the chance to have an ART BEAT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. Listen tomorrow, December 25th for 30 minutes of my 1980s Christmas memories, music, stories, and a highlight clip from the rare 1978 STAR WARS CHRISTMAS! 15h00 PST on 93.9 FM in Smithers or streaming here on smithersradio.com  and online in the archives at http://www.smithersradio.com/program/art-beat

I precorded this special episode on Winter Solstice (aka Life Day?*) so maybe it is charmed with positive energies! I hope if you are listening it adds a smile to your Christmas day. I have dug into my own Christmas past to bring you some fun flash backs to 1980s, some are fun and some are out right touching.

On Christmas day I’ll be in small town Alberta in a tiny 1960s bungalow stuffed with extended family, and many cats and dogs. With me will be my 84 year old mom, memories of my dad, all 3 brothers, and many Christmas decorations that have reappeared each year since I was a kid.  It’s a chaotic and also comforting scene. Of course Christmas hasn’t always been perfect. Like any family as the decades add up there are heart breaking Christmases, Christmases alone, lean years, extravagent years, years away from Canada, joyful years – and inbetween many funny stories. To find my happiest place at Christmas I try to hold on to a few traditions and objects tied to my childhood. Christmas always reminds me of being a kid. Maybe that’s because when we are children the magic of Christmas is strongest.   I hope you discover magic this Christmas, and I hope you will tune into ART BEAT.

Happy Christmas to one and all

From my Little Art Heart
