CICK Space Train COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

The goal for this document is to provide guidelines for participants / audience to ensure the safety of those engaging in CICK’s Space Train Concert Series at the Smithers Legion Branch 63.

This document will be updated as new protocols present themselves. With reference to: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions

CICK Protocol for ALL Events:

CICK will have a COVID Safety Coordinator onsite to handle COVID related issues or concerns. The COVID Safety Coordinator will be clearly identifiable with a nametag.

The number of people attending all CICK events will be at or below BC Health Authority Guidelines. Currently, audiences will be capped at 50 people. Access to the event will be limited by ticket numbers and there will be a designated staff person who will collect tickets and work with the COVID Safety Coordinator (on site).

Anyone who has had symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days, has arrived from outside of Canada, or has been in recent contact (up to 5 days) with anyone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, will be asked to stay home. Anyone who has had contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 must self-isolate for 5 days and monitor symptoms. This extends to our performers, staff and volunteers. Signage with these guidelines will be clearly displayed at a location outside the event entrance. These guidelines will also be clearly posted along with any promotional material including event advertising/ event descriptions online.

Indoor Event Protocol

Indoor event locations will be optimised for the best possible air circulation by having open windows / doors, and fans to circulate air. Masks are required to be worn at all times by all participants unless eating or drinking. There will be clearly marked out spots to reflect physical distancing, 2 meters apart.

Participants must remain seated during the performance unless using the washrooms, the bar, or entering/leaving the event location. Mingling and dancing is discouraged.

Participants will be asked to sanitize hands upon entering the event. Handwashing best practices will be followed by all staff and attendees. Hand sanitizer will be provided at clearly marked stations.

Participants are encouraged to arrive on time for events and leave immediately after to reduce the number of people congregating.

Increased cleaning and disinfecting of the equipment, door handles, and other high touch surfaces before and after sessions will take place. Adequate time between cleaning and equipment use will be respected.

These policies and protocols will be posted and clearly marked at each event location, along with signage for washrooms and hand sanitizer stations, including instructions on best practices for handwashing.

COVID-19 Specific Protocol

For every event during the COVID-19 pandemic, CICK will take the following precautions:

  1. Watch for symptoms  / stay home of you feel sick

Patrons shall remain at home if they are feeling sick. Any participant experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 before or on the day of the event should not attend. Tickets may be transferred to another patron.

As a preventative measure, watch for the following symptoms:

  • coughing

  • runny nose

  • sore throat

  • fatigue

It is recommended that the CICK team will:

  • Prepare a strategy and language to use in case a participant/ audience member arrives demonstrating symptoms.

  •  Participants / audience members who are repeatedly and deliberately not complying with safety measures will be asked to leave the event.

  • Anyone with questions or concerns about compliance with Regional orders for the Northern Health region, can email PHP@northernhealth.ca, or call the Health Protection Central Line - 250-565-7322

  1. Require physical distancing

Participants will be asked to maintain a distance of at least two (2) meters away from each other when at all possible, when not seated with their group. While at the event, the COVID Safety Coordinator will ensure that we are maintaining a physical distance of at least 2m with those outside your ‘bubble’.

Our staff will have marked out and measured your placement in relation to the space provided.

The CICK team will:

  • designate a ‘social distance minder’ whose job it is to be watchful of participants and numbers.

  • have a visual representation of 2m distance on hand

  • prepare signage and language to use when monitoring social distance

  • remind audience members that physical distancing begins in the parking lot

  •  prepare a strategy and language for if your group/audience becomes too large (more than 50 people at an event.)

  • request that audience members do not linger after a performance

  1. Masks

All CICK staff will wear masks at CICK events. Attendees must wear masks indoors at all times, regardless of vaccination status, unless eating or drinking at their table.CICK will provide masks for all participants / audience – available upon request.

  1. Remember proper hygiene during the event.

CICK will provide hand sanitizer stations and request all audience / participants to use sanitizer upon arrival. Clearly marked sanitizing stations with best practice instructions are placed in several locations; people can wash or sanitize their hands as needed.

As per the BC Centre for disease control: ‘If washing hands is not possible, you can use certain alcohol-based Health Canada approved hand sanitizers on children. Please read labels carefully as some products are for adult use only and should not be used by children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.  Hand sanitizer is not recommended for use on infants as their skin is still developing and changing.’

  1. Cleaning at events

Any shared equipment that is being used by the CICK team, performers, or attendees will be cleaned upon arrival and before departure with disinfectant wipes.

Washrooms are disinfected at regular intervals, as well as other high-contact surfaces.
