Hello Community Radio Fans

A quick news update for those of you who are community radio curious:

We have acquired 70% of the equipment we need to start broadcasting, including our new Nicom radio transmitter, a mixer board, a Sure mic and stand and of course our antennae, tower and related cables/connectors.
If you have sound equipment that you could lend or sell, let us know at info@smithersradio.com.

A small group of volunteers started working on the studio (back room of Onesky) over the weekend. Under the guidance of Phelix (our volunteer carpenter) and Abdel (program director) we pulled out the old floor and started leveling the gravel foundation in preparation for the pouring of concrete sometime this week.

Upcoming goals/tasks

Tuesday September 29th - Studio work-b. We need to move some gravel in preparation for the studio floor. We are gathering at Onesky at 5pm on Tuesday. If you can help, let me know at glen@rogerwilco.ca. Should take us a couple hours.

October 14th - Industry Canada is coming by to test our signal. we are aiming at having our studio mostly complete and equipment setup and working. We may need help here or there. Let me know if you wish to be contacted if we need your skills here or there. Thanks. glen@rogerwilco.ca

Abdel, our program director, is actively collecting programming ideas and adding them to the schedule. Now is the best time to get your program added to the schedule! If you have already submitted a proposal, then Abdel will be getting back to you soon, if not, fill one out and send to abznot01@yahoo.com
The programming application is here - http://smithersradio.com/page/programming-application

Thanks and looking forward to hearing you on the radio waves.
