It might have been Kim Gordon, holding her guitar by the strap, standing on her stack amp in high heels, swinging the instrument into the carpeted wall to produce a wobbling feedback.

It might have been that I stood in the crowd encircled by members from Viet Cong, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Milk, Body/Head, Big Brave and more while watching guitarists frenetically sling their guitars to and fro while staring eachother in the eyes.

It may have been the instalation art piece that resembled nothing and everything all at once, but kept us guessing for an hour while Avec Le soleil played upstairs at the legion.

It may have been the surprise dicovery bands like "Bitter Fictions," "Big Brave," "Jung People," "Astral Swans," "Betrayers," and "Switches."

It may have been standing in line with Sarah Davachi at a pig roast talking about drone.

It might have been realizing that I was surrounded by people that were literal facsimiles of eachother in floral brimmed hats, beards and a general ironic-slacker aesthetic.

It may have been talking pipeline politics with members from Big Brave, and Godspeed over a beer.

It might have been seeing my favorite redcat records empolyee frm Vancouver at the "television" show.

It might have been that everyone was equally excited and warm, worn-out yet enthralled all at once for 5 days straight.

Whatever it was, it was Sled Island. And I will be back year after year.
